Psychiatric Disability
According to the World Health Organization, four of the top 10 leading causes of disability are mental disorders. In the United States, major depression is the leading cause of disability. Over nine million people are affected by major depression every year.
Other most impairing disorders are generalized anxiety, posttraumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive, bipolar, and schizophrenia.
Mental Health Impairment is a psychiatric condition that impairs a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living including social, occupational and interpersonal functioning.
